Known for more than 40 years as the California Educational Data Processing Association (CEDPA), CETPA changed its name to the California Educational Technology Professionals Association (CETPA) to more accurately reflect the changing roles and responsibilities of K-12 technologists.

CETPA was established in 1960, when the first generation of computers (vacuum tube driven) was giving way to the second generation using transistors. Fast forwarding to the present, K-12 technology systems encompass all aspects of administrative and instructional information processing requirements. The association’s goal is to increase information sharing and communication among K-12 technologists on technology-related issues.

MEMBERSHIP

Association membership is growing and currently stands at approximately 1,200 members.Our membership is made up people who support technology in the K-12 educational environment, including Directors of Technology and Chief Technology Officers, Network Managers and Network Administrators, Teachers, Chief Business Officers, School Site Administrators and Technicians.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE

Our biggest event each year is our annual conference which includes keynote speakers, breakout sessions presented by those who work in the K-12 environment, a vendor exhibitor’s show with over 100 vendors and a golf tournament. Conference attendance continues to grow towards 500 attendees.Please see the Annual Conference page of our web site for more information.

PUBLICATIONS

The association’s quarterly trade journal, DataBus, has a circulation of approximately 2,250 and is available on our website.Articles and information contained in each issue apply directly toward current technology issues in the K-12 educational environment.
